Why Choose Dr. Defilippi?

Sun Valley-area dentist Dr. Alison Defilippi is a sixth-generation Nevadan. She graduated early from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, then earned her dental degree from UNLV. She came straight back home to Reno to practice dentistry, a dream she has held since age six.

Today, she holds memberships in the American Dental Association and the Nevada Dental Association. Dr. Defilippi spends one-on-one time with every patient. She wants to listen to your concerns and goals to create a personalized treatment plan. Her goal is to treat the underlying condition, not just the symptom.

Same-Day Emergency Dentistry

Preventive dental care is important to our office. We focus on routine cleanings, exams, and X-rays to keep you healthy and prevent future dental problems. But if you have an urgent dental emergency, we offer same-day dental care so you can save your teeth,

Common dental emergencies we treat include:

  • Knocked-out tooth (save the tooth and bring it with you)
  • Severe tooth pain that does not go away
  • Broken, cracked, or chipped teeth
  • Lost fillings or loose crowns
  • Abscess or gum swelling that could indicate infection
  • Something is stuck between teeth that floss cannot remove

Call Dr. Teeth as soon as you have an emergency, and we can provide at-home tips to follow before you reach our office. We reserve same-day appointments for emergency cases.

Patient Review

Today's visit was for a lost crown. Dr. was able to get me in surprisingly quickly. Just now to wait for the finished crown. For my dental work, and the fortunately infrequent emergencies Dr. Defilippi has always been great. Highly recommend this office!

Dental Crown Services

Our restorative dental treatments can treat missing, damaged, and infected teeth. Dental crowns are the gold standard for broken, worn, or weakened teeth. A crown is a tooth-shaped cap that fits over a damaged tooth. It restores the tooth’s shape, size, strength, and appearance.

Dr. Defilippi uses crowns to protect weak teeth, repair broken or worn teeth, cover large fillings, and hold dental bridges in place. She prefers tooth-colored crowns to reduce tooth sensitivity while still providing strength and a natural look.

Porcelain Veneers and Minimal Prep Veneers

Do you want a quick and easy smile makeover? Porcelain veneers might be the right choice for you. Veneers are thin, custom-made shells that cover the front surface of your teeth. They are bonded to your natural teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers can fix multiple cosmetic issues at once.

Veneers can fix these tooth problems:

  • Teeth that are permanently stained or discolored
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Teeth that are misshapen or uneven
  • Teeth that are slightly crooked (for patients who do not want braces)

Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel removal from the front of the tooth. This creates space so the veneer sits flush with your natural teeth. The process is permanent, meaning you will need a veneer on that tooth for life.

Minimal prep veneers require little to no enamel removal. They are thinner and can often be placed without numbing. These veneers are reversible and can be removed later if you change your mind. However, they are not suitable for everyone. Patients with severely crooked teeth, large gaps, or significant decay may need traditional veneers or orthodontic treatment first.
